Savings Policy![]() Building societies are home to a fifth of the nation's cash savings. Against a background of robust competition from banks and National Savings and Investments, building societies were able to maintain their share of the savings market at just under 20%. This performance highlights the trust people place in building societies to offer good value products and a safe home for their savings. Societies remained especially strong in the market for cash ISAs, with around 37% of balances outstanding.
