The Banking Code is a voluntary code which set standards of good banking practice for banks and building societies to follow when they are dealing with personal customers in the United Kingdom. As a voluntary code, it allows competition and market forces to work to encourage higher standards for the benefit of customers.

The Banking Code is sponsored by the Building Societies Association, British Bankers' Association and APACS - the UK payments association. It is monitored and enforced by the Banking Code Standards Board.

The latest version of the Banking Code came into force on 31 March 2008. The Banking Code 2008 and a press release setting out some of the key improvements are available below:
